For years we loved the food. This Sunday we dropped by for a soft-shell crab sandwich and on oyster sandwich. They missed badly on both. Overcooked and bad flavor. They were too busy to send it back, so we left it wondering if we would ever go back. What a changefrom previous experiences there.

The Yorktown Pub is merely adequate - bar food of widely varying qaulity, uneven service (from friendly and attentive to snubbing, aloof, and sullen), with an atmosphere that ranges from noisy, smoky, and distracting to downright obnoxious (when the Sunday afternoon biker boys, Yorktown Pub's favorite sons, descend en masse).
The highlights are the steamed clams or srhimp, which when they are at their very best, are quite good; pity that their quality is not consistent.
One of the low lights is their refusal to accept anything other than cash for payment - no credit/debit cards. Truly an unwelcome anachronism in this electronic age.
There are probably better uses for this piece of prime Yorktown real estate.

I recently re-visited the Yorktown Pub and was overcome by a flood of emotion, you see I was a bartender at the Pub in the late 80's, I grew up in that place. It hasn't changed a bit, that's what makes it so damn good, one would be hard pressed to find a place like the Pub in SOCal. I highly recommend the Pub to everyone.
