The classic 1939 John Ford-directed film “Stagecoach” kicks off a three-month long Western Film Series presented by the College of William and Mary and co-sponsored by Williamsburg Regional Library. Films will be shown Sundays at 2 p.m. with a repeat on Mondays at 6 p.m. Half of the films will be shown in various locations on the W&M campus, with the rest being screened at the Williamsburg Library Theatre, 515 Scotland Street. All screenings are free and open to the public. Students in a William and Mary American Studies course, “The Western and the American West in Literature and Film”, will introduce films and lead post-screening discussions. The first film in the series, “Stagecoach,” which stars John Wayne in what was his breakthrough role, will be shown Sunday, August 30 at 2 p.m. with the repeat showing on Monday, August 31 at 6 p.m., both in the Williamsburg Library Theatre.
