Lecture on Greece and Italy at Norfolk museum

NORFOLK -- A lecture on the islands of ancient Greece and the city-states of Renaissance Italy will begin at 11 a.m. Feb. 20 in the Kaufman Theatre of the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk.

The lecture is part of the Norfolk Society of the Arts annual lecture series. This one is being conducted by art historian and scholar Nigel McGilchrist, a graduate of Oxford University. He lectures on archaeology and museums in Europe and the U.S., has won university prizes and medals in English and art history, served as dean of European studies for Rhodes College and the University of the South and has taught at the University of Rome, according to a press release.

Each year, the lecture series features speakers who address various topics on selected Wednesdays (unless otherwise noted). The lectures, which begin at 11 a.m. and are preceded by a coffee reception at 10:30 a.m., are included in the cost of admission to the museum.
