The new line is inspired by musical objects paired with nature, and offers clothing for both men and women. Icarus Clothing’s appeal is enhanced by it’s versatility in that it has a casual/street feel with a look and originality that would be found in a boutique. The bright colors and intricate designs caught the attention of everyone watching that night.
They opened the show with a break-dance battle, showing off the talents of some of this area’s most talented b-boys. With high speed spins and flips, the crowd was definitely hyped after the performance, but the party really got started once the fashion show commenced. Standing at both corners of the stage stood two sexy, yet sophisticated, models, wearing shorts adorned with a rhinestone Icarus symbol and revealing tops with angel wings.
As the light spanned the stage, the music started with old school Timberland and the bass blasted as the show went on. A local artist, from Elm and Oak, let the creative juices flow onto a white canvas that was hung as the backdrop on the stage. As each stroke was drawn, a mural boasting Icarus symbols and artistic writing was created.
The crowd looked on as 6 female models and 5 male models wearing Icarus shirts, bottoms provided by Blue Taxi Clothing Co, and custom frames provided by Genre Boutique, strutted the stage. Hairstyles were created by Color Bar Hair Salon and makeup was done by Amy Ritger. Photographers were flashing and people were cheering as the jump off event of the new fall season went down.
The models did their thing, and as each shirt was presented, everyone attending got to see just what Icarus Clothing is all about. The fashion show brought in crowds of people, with barely any moving room at all inside the club. Good for the clothing line, but a little claustrophobic for everyone watching, but all eyes were still glued to the stage even as the show came to an end.
Like most debut fashion shows, there were a few technical errors, and mistakes with announcing, but the models pulled it off brilliantly and to anyone watching, it seemed flawless. The clothes, models, and accessories were promoted, and that was the main objective.
This will be a stepping stone for Icarus Clothing and they will only go up from here. The founder and owner, of the line, Jared Dessuit, along with his partners Jhawn Jones, and Aric Martinez, (with help from countless friends and supporters) planned an event that was sure to please, and it did just that.
It was a night of good music, fun, and of course......fashion.
