PICK OF THE WEEK: GONE BABY GONE
A two-for-one Affleck breakthrough, the kidnapping thriller "Gone Baby Gone" proved "Gigli" star Ben Affleck can direct a solid movie and previously unremarkable kid brother Casey actually has movie star chops.
Set in the brothers' hometown of Boston, the twist-filled mystery based on a novel by "Mystic River" author Dennis Lehane also stars Morgan Freeman, Ed Harris and Michelle Monaghan. But the scene stealer is veteran stage actress Amy Ryan. She's so credible in the role of a selfish single mom that she's representing the movie at the Academy Awards in the best supporting actress category.
Bonus features include commentary from the elder Affleck and co-writer Aaron Stockard on both the film and the deleted scenes, an extended ending and featurettes on the casting and Affleck's return to his hometown for filming.
"Gone Baby Gone" is also available on Blu-ray.
