PICK OF THE WEEK: MICHAEL CLAYTON
This taut legal thriller starring George Clooney has been on a tear all award season, racking up three SAG award, four Golden Globe and seven Oscar nominations. It's had a harder time actually winning the things, but all that really says about the film's many achievements is that they're a little more subtle than the competition.
The directorial debut of "Bourne" trilogy screenwriter Tony Gilroy, "Michael Clayton" represents the best kind of Hollywood filmmaking for adults.
DVD special features include a commentary by Gilroy and editor John Gilroy (the filmmaker's younger brother), plus additional scenes that didn't make the final cut.
"Michael Clayton" is also available on Blu-ray and HD-DVD.
Also released:
"American Gangster" (Three-disc Deluxe Edition or Two-disc Collector's Edition) (also HD-DVD)
"Catacombs"
"Chaos"
"For the Bible Tells Me So"
"In the Valley of Elah" (also Blu-ray)
