“Max Payne” (Oct. 17)

Here’s something totally fresh: a cop avenging the death of his partner and family! OK, not too original, but “Max Payne” does star Mark Wahlberg in a potentially creepy adaptation of the popular video game. Bonus points for the presence of supernatural beings--hey, at least it’s not “We Own the Night 2”--and “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” breakout love interest Mila Kunis as an assassin.
