"Poseidon" (2006)

What goes wrong: A “rogue wave” topples an ocean liner and traps passengers inside in this remake 1972's “The Poseidon Adventure.”

Who the movie blames: On screen, its all nature’s doing.

The real disaster: This one falls short on a number of disaster movie essentials, namely a large, well-known cast. The original had several Oscar nominated actors. The remake features Josh Lucas and Emmy Rossum doing a second-rate, impossible-to-care-about impression of Jack and Rose from “Titanic.” Devoid of heart-rending drama and thrilling escapes, it's more like a “very special” episode of “The Love Boat.”
