I visited the Blue Cactus back in 2005 and was not pleased with the food or the service. I had heard that there was a new owner and that things had a changed so I decided to give it another chance. I was so happy with the service and especially the food. I started off with the Adobe Shrimp and had the Salmon as my entree. I LOVED IT!!!! My Husband had the Loco Yolko and our daughter (YES THEY ARE KID FRIENDLY) had a quesadilla. I love South Western Cuisine and this place has it. The best part was when the Chef/Owner came out and asked how we liked everything. It has such a nice friendly neighborhood feel. You don't find that very often. I highly recommend the Blue Cactus Cafe' it's a cool little spot located in the heart of Historic Hilton Village!!!!

At 6:15 PM on a Saturday, the Blue Cactus was deserted and stayed that way the entire hour the two of us dined. I had the Soutwestern Quesadillas. They were rather bland and the accompanying black beans were served barely lukewarm. The best part of the entree was the salsa--very tasty. My wife had the Cilantro Salad with Grilled Chicken. While very good, it wasn't very filling considering the $10 price. The atmosphere was different, though quiet because of the lack of patrons. The service was excellent. Our waitress was pleasant, attentive and made good suggestions.

Our family visited in August. There were 11 in our party, with 5 children. There were only 2 table occupied, as it was an off hour. Before we could even get seated, the guy behind the counter said several times that someone would have to sit with in children in such a way that it was very clear that the children weren't welcome. We left, and we won't be back.

Wonderful, non-chain restaurant. Food made on premises. Not the standard taco and salsa Mexican restaurant.
