Anna and Adolf Jerabek opened this monastic-themed eatery in 1983. Unfazed by the ebb and flow of the fortunes of Norfolk's downtown corridor, the Czech couple has been offering the same Eastern European menu of cheeses, goulash, duck and veal ever since in its two dining rooms. Hearty, meaty meals and desserts are served at a leisurely pace in the semi-formal setting with its classical music soundtrack. It remains a reliable destination for out-of-the-ordinary European fare, a refreshing retreat from mass production and standardization.
