Vancostas in the Denbigh section of Newport News has been in business since 1973. Restaurants come and go on the Peninsula, so a restaurant that sticks around for 30 years must have something good going. There's nothing fancy about the place - paper placemats and menus, minimal décor and a jukebox. The menu, which features a variety of appetizers, salads, pizzas, entrees, sandwiches and desserts, leans toward Italian fare with some Greek selections in the mix. Daily lunch and dinner specials are also offered. A limited assortment of wine and beer is available. We noticed a few folks enjoying pitchers of beer with their pizza.
