Belgian Chocolatier and Beanery owner Cindy Hazelton found out about Leonidas chocolates while on a trip to the Netherlands to visit a biological half-brother she had never met. The Leonidas company is a nearly-100-year-old chocolatier based in Belgium. At $1 to $1.10 a pop, you savor these smooth, rich chocolates slowly, preferably with a cup of gourmet coffee. In the shop, a bright space with big windows overlooking a blank lawn that will soon include upscale housing, the air is steeped in the smell of fresh coffee.

For noncoffee drinkers like business partner Carol Berg, there is a selection of smoothies, juices and tea, which also is for sale in bulk. Quiches, assorted pastries and other goodies also are on the menu, along with a free high-speed wireless Internet connection. The Wi-Fi will also will be available in a sidewalk seating area.

Curbside service is available for orders telephoned in advance. Customers also can hold business or community group meetings in the store, for no additional charge other than the beverages they drink and the chocolates they buy.
