Tucked away in Kiln Creek, bordering the Newport News/York County line is Manchester Grill. This place has no frills, no over exaggerations, and no smoke screens. Just a room with tables, chairs, a kitchen, and the occasional 9 iron.

Décor: Nothing special here folks. To sum it up nicely, it’s golf décor in here. Less than desirable burgundy patterned carpet, a couple TV’s (old school style, no fancy plasmas or LCD’s), dated chairs and lighting, and recessed lighting falling out of their holes. These are just a couple of the things worth noting.

Menu:
The menu including starters, larger servings, and a drink are conveniently located on a two page layout. For starters you can choose from jumbo wings, Kiln Creek tenders, or plain quesadillas with your choice of steak or shrimp. Two Soups, six salads and sandwiches complete the menu.

Atmosphere:
Unless you’re a golfer, you may feel a little out of place. The room is filled with golfers and Kiln Creek residents. All talking about the course and the trick around hole number 3. It’s not a bad vibe, there are no odd looks, and I doubt you’ll be made to feel uncomfortable. The discomfort comes from not knowing the difference between a Putter and a Pitching Wedge.

Price:
The price is the best part of Manchester Grill. There is nothing over 9 bucks on the menu. One would think that a café geared to the neighborhood golfer would try to capitalize on the fact that golfers are seen as wealthy individuals, but not here. You will find that everyone here is treated the same, and a view of a golf course can be a lot better than passing cars.

Bottom Line:
I will not tell you to leave your hometown and travel all the way out to Kiln Creek. I also will not tell you to never stop in either. The Manchester Grill is a place where if you happen to be in the neighborhood, it’s not a bad idea to stop in and grab a quick quesadilla and a drink.
