Roger Browns is one of Portsmouth’s largest sports bars which boasts a menu to rival dedicated restaurants. From finger foods to an extensive wine list, Roger Brown’s has the best of both worlds rolled into one. Located on the historic end of High Street, you’ll even enjoy the commute to this restaurant.

Sports Bar: Roger Brown is a sports bar in every sense of the word and who else better to bring the essence of a sports bar to the area, than legendary pro-football player Roger Brown! There is countless TV’s everywhere, with flat screen projectors over head, swarming the bar, and lining the wall. If there is a game being broadcasted, chances are it’s being picked up at Roger Brown’s. Sounds are delivered to your seat via built in speakers. If you can’t see that well, the 8x6 TV’s make it easy to see who’s returning the opening kick off.

Restaurant: There’s not much that this menu is lacking. Choose from bar snacks or appetizers if you want a little something to go with your drink. Home made soups, crab dip for $8.95, salads for $4.00, or The Trio (fried buttermilk shrimp, Maryland crab bites, and fried catfish in a spicy cocktail sauce) are just a few dishes to choose from.

Décor: If you can take your eyes off the big screen you’ll notice the stout décor at Roger Brown’s. Everything is big-- life size statues, the different sections of the building, the 90 foot bar with dark red wood, exposed brick walls and sports memorabilia. There is ample seating throughout the place, and you can choose from a bench, booth, or individual seats. Seating is positioned to allow you to both be entertained, and still be with your guests. In addition to the bar and several dining areas, Roger Brown’s has a pool hall and an arcade room located on the back end of the building.

Atmosphere: The atmosphere is what you can expect from a sports bar, more so than a restaurant. All eyes are on TV’s, with frequent rounds of applauds for great plays by favorite teams. Mixed genders, mixed ethnicity, and mixed ages all with two things in common: the love of the game and the love of great food.

If you haven’t been to Roger Brown’s make the trek. It’ll be worth it even if only for a round of one of the 24 drafts on hand, or to try their 28 day aged Angus steak!
