The week's biggest TV-centric stories—made even biggerer

While you were busy staring at Miley Cyrus’s exposed back (perverts!), TV carried on without you. Because we’d hate to leave you hanging, here’s the lowdown on this week’s five juiciest bits. You know, the ones that don’t have anything to do with half-naked Disney teens.

5. TV Land, We Might Want to Hit That
A few weeks ago, an episode of “30 Rock” spawned a hilarious show within a show about middle-aged women competing for the affections of adolescent boys, “MILF Island.” It seemed like too absurd of a parody, even for reality TV, but apparently… not so much. TV Land is working on a new show where young men will attempt to woo a "sexy and accomplished mature woman." The “Untitled Cougar Project,” as it’s being referred to, may not bring MILFs rolling around in the sand, but it is a step in the right direction.

4. Auf Wiedersehen, New York!
The horror of Lifetime’s acquisition of “Project Runway” sunk in even deeper this week. Execs at the lady net announced that their first season of “PR” (the show’s sixth) would be filmed in Los Angeles. Now LA may be the mecca for all things film and TV, but fashion-wise, it’s always been New York’s more casual cousin. The move could be the death knell for Nina Garcia and possibly Michael Kors, who are both New Yorkers and unconfirmed to return when the show leaves Bravo. It could also mean a challenge focusing on board shorts.

3. Lex Luthor Hits the Road
Clark Kent is out one nemesis. “Smallville” actor Michael Rosenbaum, who’s played Lex Luthor for the show’s first six seasons, confirmed this week that he would not be returning for the seventh. DC Comics character Doomsday and an unnamed female will fill his villainous shoes. Producers say they will keep the door open for potential Luthor cameos in the likely scenario where Rosenbaum finds himself severely underwhelmed by his post-“Smallville” options.

2. O’Hara Scores Role in Buzzed Remake
ABC’s pilot for “Good Behavior” got our seal of approval this week with the casting of Catherine O’Hara as lead character Jackie West. Best known for her roles in the Christopher Guest films, and for screaming “Kevin!” in “Home Alone,” O’Hara is the first big name to sign on to the Rob Thomas remake of the Australian show “Outrageous Fortune.” Thomas’s old pal from his “Veronica Mars” days, Kristen Bell, is also rumored to be joining the series.

1. Paula Sees the Future, Possibly Ruining Her Own
Damn, we sure would be remiss if we didn’t weigh in on the latest Paula debacle on “American Idol.” Mankind's least eloquent judge made the mistake of critiquing a performance that hadn’t even happened yet on Tuesday’s episode, and instead of the regular mockery, people are actually freaked out. Major newspapers are calling shenanigans on the show’s rehearsals and fans are out for Abdul blood. If you ask us, the real shocker here is that Jason "Creepy Blue Eyes" Castro is still in the running.
